Two days before he died, his family members tried to take him to four hospitals in two cities. He died on the way to the fifth hospital after being rejected from four hospitals – the hospital declared him “dead”. Authorities announced a day after Hussein Siddiqui died that he was coronavirus positive.

That’s when their family doctor was informed. The 63-year-old doctor gave him medicine for colds and fevers. His cough worsened and he did not sleep well that night. On the morning of March 9, Hussein Siddiqui’s family took him to a private hospital in Gulberg, where he spent 12 hours observing. At this point, the story took a turn for the worse.

The certificate issued to Hussein Siddiqui’s family at the time of his discharge from the private hospital stated that both his lungs had been infected with pneumonia. The doctor who examined him also wrote that the patient was suffering from additional anxiety. The doctor recommended that he be shifted to a specialized hospital in Hyderabad for ‘examination’ – but he did not mention that he was a suspected COVID-19 patient.

a statement from the Indian Ministry of Health said that Gulberg Hospital had identified him as a sample for coronavirus testing. Was sent to the city of Bangalore, 570 km away.

His family was then blamed for removing him from Gulberg Hospital. The statement said, “People who were with the patient forcibly waited for the test results (to take the patient out of the hospital) and against expert advice he was taken to a private hospital in Hyderabad.”
