Schools and colleges will remain closed till September, said Sheikh Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that schools and colleges will remain closed till next September unless the situation of coronavirus infection in Bangladesh improves.

The Prime Minister said this in a video conferencing with the Deputy Commissioners of several districts at Ganobhaban in BD 2day.” not open a single educational institution now. When will we open it? At least until September, all these schools and colleges will close, even if the coronavirus continues.” Schools colleges will closed.

After the first coronavirus case identifiy in Bangladesh on March 8, the government announced on March 16 that all educational institutions and coaching centers, including schools and colleges, closed from March 16 to March 31. However, before this, many educational institutions in Dhaka announced to stop their activities on their own initiative.

Open from April 1, were also postponed.

Meanwhile, the results of this year’s SSC i.e. secondary and equivalent examinations have not release yet due to the virtual lockdown situation in the general holiday announced by the government. More than 20 lakh students took the test. Later, when the government declared the first general holiday, the holiday period extend to April 9 in all educational institutions.

Until then, the Ministry of Education has directed to stop teaching in the classrooms. After that the period of general leave extended in stages and the period of leave in the educational institution extend. The latest coronavirus situation is that the government has extended the general holiday until May 5. . The Ministry of Education has said that secondary, higher secondary and higher education institutions will remain closed till May 5 in coordination with the government’s holiday.

A notification issued by the government on April 23 stated that educational institutions could not open during this period. However, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has announced holidays for all primary schools till Eid-ul-Fitr.
